Breakfast on Pluto

A FILM BY Neil Jordan

Enchanting and hopeful.
- Rogert Ebert, Chicago Sun times
Jordan and McCabe's real triumph here, however, is the tenderness with which they imbues Kitten,"" and the astonishing grace with which the extraordinary Murphy pulls it off.""
- Ken Fox, TV Guide
Playful, poetic, shocking, saddening, and ultimately gratifyingly and honestly big-hearted.
- Glenn Kenny, Premiere

Synopsis

Breakfast on Pluto tells the wild, rollicking story of Patrick "Kitten" Braden, a catty, beleaguered Irish transvestite who becomes involved with the Irish Republican Army while on a quest to reunite with his mother. Told in thirty-six short chapters, this delirious frenzy is the second collaboration between Neil Jordan and author and screenwriter Patrick McCabe, who gave us the equally inventive and scatalogical The Butcher Boy. Outrageous star Cillian Murphy shines as the "svelte gamine" Kitten, supported by the venerable Liam Neeson as a sympathetic local priest and Jordan regular Stephen Rea in an eccentric cameo appearance.
