Ian Dunross, a brilliant businessman with a complete understanding of the complicated cultural traditions of the Orient, is Tai-Pan : the chief of the "Noble House". The company, founded 150 years ago, is responsible for a vast proportion of Hong Kong's wealth, owing to its mighty sea trade.
