synopsis

This funny, poignant comedy, in the gentle tradition of Shall We Dance? and The Wedding Banquet, traces the lives of two handsome boyfriends who become entangled with a young woman who proposes the idea of conceiving a child with them and creating a family. A hit at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival where it played in the Directors' Fortnight, the story gets more complicated as conservative family members try to break up the gay couple's relationship. Ultimately, the guys and the woman carrrying their child come to the realization that they will have to decide for themselves the true meaning of family. Featuring original music by jazz musician Bobby McFerrin, this warm and engaging comedy has won the hearts of filmgoers across the country.
