Last Orders

A movie I loved on first sight and, even more important, love in remembrance.

An epic with the economy of an epitaph, a flawlessly told tale about a flawed man.
- Carrie Rickey, Philadelphia Inquirer
There's been no richer cinematic tapestry of humanity so far this year.
- Jay Carr, Boston Globe
This is human comedy at its most amusing, interesting and confirming.

synopsis

It's a long life - you need lifelong friends. Last Orders is a funny and moving tale of four old friends (Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, David Hemmings and Tom Courtenay) and the last orders of Jack Dodds (Michael Caine) that send them on a journey. Last Orders is an epic story about a remarkable generation that survived a terrible war, a film about ordinary people that shows us that there are no ordinary people. The stories of the early hopes, the children, the affairs, the good times and the bad demonstrate, both to the characters themselves and to the audience, that it's your friends who will break your heart... and your friends who will mend it.
